You can always print the counter sheet and keep it with the machine service history.

Re: MPC 5504 Ex Service Lock and Changed Passwords

    Hi all
i got a cheap usb chip reader and managed to get a data dump from Nv ram 1 on the locked machine
and a data dump for a freshly reset machine so i can compare the 2
so it is possible to obtain a data dump direct from the nv similar to uploading to and sd card via sp mode

unfortunately the cheap reader didn't last very long lol
so its worth getting a reasonable 1 very handy device to have

Special thanks to Skynetto for his help and advise

i want to data dump the nv to see if i can edit the passwords and gain access to the machine
i have a machine that ive cleared passwords in sp mode so i can back up that nv to sd card and use that as my guide to what i need to edit

    so advise
what is a good eprom reader and program to use to read then write back to the nv
i have a usb eprom reader that i have used in the past on older models
i use HxD to edit the file is that ok

Thanks in advance for any advice

This is Only To Allow Me To Gain Access to The Machine's via supervisor or admin password change
go wrong, you can try to ask a ricoh card repair service, our supplier can provide us with new nv-ram, with the counter reset, (for example mp2501 = 70euro if I remember correctly), many customers prefer them for simplify the invoicing of the prints, as I see that they are new models, I assume that the bodywork is immaculate and few prints, you can tell customers that they are not new but have been picked up from corporate events / shows, or in-store display, disassembly everything, give it a good clean, and the mc is like new, but for real!

An old thread I know but ...........

I have heard that to clear the NVram you can fit it upside down (incorrectly) then power on the device, especially useful if the SP entry code has been changed etc.

Sounds very dodgy, just wondered if anyone has tried this!?

I, always do it...then it goes into Japanese, and after its reboots, it asks you for passwords, like when it's new out of the box.

Not upside down!!!, Put the nv-ram 1 in socket 2, and the 2 in socket 1!...if you repeat this, the reset process run again....as many time as you want

    Very Interesting Luca!
Do you swap them back to their original spots after the reset or leave them?

no, leave them as is, if you then invert them again (original position) it resets again, you can repeat this process indefinitely, it resets with each inversion.
