Do you recommend Kyocera copiers to sell?

I hope this post is OK?

I've been a tech for 41 years, and run my own small business for the last 17 years. I've been selling Ricoh product, but am having trouble supporting the product line as a non dealer. I've considered switching to the Kyocera line.

I started as a Minolta Tech in '81, then switched to Mita in '85, and picked up Konica and Toshiba in 86, and started Ricoh in '95. As a non dealer, I sold mostly Ricoh MP201's and MP200o's segment one and two, but no color.

If you were in my position, would you consider taking on Kyocera?

    Thanks,

    Robin

Absolutely. But I think unless you have lots of salesmen and buying power you'd start off with their Copystar line. Same product and resources but geared towards the smaller dealer.

Are you talking about becoming an authorized Kyocera dealer or an independent?

Of course, becoming an authorized dealer means having mahine, parts, and supplies quotas and they're pretty strict on it. As mentioned, they're more flexible with the Copystar line.

Personally, I've done both and I'm more happy as an independent. But that's just me.

    Independent for sure.

    It's just me. ;-)

I'll look into the Copystar line.

The printers we use are the 3055,3150,3155
    the mfp's we use mid-3550, 3655
the larger ones we use are the task alfas 4002/3 - 6002/3

they are all super easy to work on and require very little maintenance if cleaned regularly. Even with that, they run super clean.

the only thing, and this is with almost all kyocera machines at the moment. is the fusers ( depending on how they are run,sit idle and enviroment ) almost all go prematurely. But the all the other units meet the maintenance cycle easy. The feeders are all well built as well.

the only know major issue is with the 3655 feeders. the left hinge will break out on the screw holes from the grease they put in from the factory. Theres a bulletin on it. But the repait is easy.

all in all. Low maintenance, Super tech friendly, user friendly and easy to setup and use. Parts and maintenance cycle last a long long time, so a very low cost.

we also service ricoh and have switched over several machines and other than color printers. Ricohs color is still slightly better but not by much now.

I love Kyocera but from what I've been told by those (on this site) that I trust, Kyocera isn't the best. In fact, I've been thinking of making the switch to KM.
