I have heard horror stories from hiring techs that have worked mainly on other brands and they love the Kyocera stuff versus other brands
I only work on Kyocera so I couldn't say what brand is the best. I broached this subject on this forum once and the impression that I came away with is that Konica Minolta is the cream of the crop.

I have talked to a dealer that is mainly KM. He was attending a Kyocera launch. I asked him why he was at the event and his reply was that the Konica's just weren't holding up. So he was looking at adding Kyocera
... perfect time to consider Toshiba Tec. Toshiba's eBridge Next line, now in its second generation, is rock solid, well featured, easy to work on and very economical to maintain with consumables often exceeding factory spec.
Yes! much much better machines.
Ithink indipendent is better but it depents of the country and the way you work. you have more freedom what todo.
Perhaps you have to consiter to import fromChina perhaps some parts ,not toner .Toner better to be genuin for these machines.
You can also use olivetti line
