    Re: The War in Ukraine

I have already seen news reports that the Ukraine people have already started pushing the Russians out of some portions of Ukraine.
Russian forces appear to be on the cusp of '''culminating''' in Ukraine. Here'''s what that could mean for both nations - ABC News

Ex-Trump official praises Biden for uniting the West against Putin

Former Trump national security adviser H.R. McMaster said Russian President Vladimir Putin has been caught off guard by the West’s united front deploying tough sanctions in response to the invasion of Ukraine — and that the Biden administration deserves credit for helping foster that unity.

“Putin perceived weakness and disunity,” McMaster, a retired Army lieutenant general, said in a phone interview. “But what he got instead was an extremely high degree of unity.”

Sanctions levied on Russia have left the country’s economy in tatters. The ruble is barely worth a penny, the Russian stock market has been shut for a month and Moscow is at risk of its first international default in more than a century.

“The Biden administration needs credit for the degree with which they fostered international unity against Russia, especially in economic and diplomatic realms,” said McMaster, now a senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

The former Trump official called for Republicans and Democrats to come together to address Russia’s aggression.

“There should be no partisan divide on Ukraine. Nobody should use Ukraine to score partisan points,” McMaster said.

McMaster stressed that a bipartisan approach is crucial for the present moment, and that there will be time down the line for debate about why deterrence failed to stop Putin from invading in the first place.

Looking ahead McMaster called for the United States to step up its support for Ukraine, including by providing more drones, missiles and other military capabilities.

Cyberattack hits big Ukrainian telecom provider, Ukrainian officials say

Ukrtelecom, a prominent Ukrainian internet and phone line provider, was the target of a “powerful cyberattack” on Monday, Ukrainian officials said.

The cyberattack was “neutralized” and, as recovery from the hack continues, priority has been given to maintaining communications services for Ukraine’s military, according to a tweet from Ukraine’s State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection.

The agency blamed “the enemy,” for the hack in an apparent reference to Russia.

Connectivity at Ukrtelecom, which describes itself as the “largest fixed line operator in Ukraine,” plummeted on Monday to 13% of pre-war levels, according to NetBlocks, which tracks internet connectivity.

Ukrainian telecom providers have experienced a wave of hacks as the Russian bombardment of the country continues.

Hackers earlier this month caused outages at a Ukrainian internet service provider Triolan, which has customers in major cities.

If Russia want to cut them off form phone and internet, they can do it in 5 minutes. Still they leave telecommunications. Probably just some kids from RU playing with commuters.
