CA State Copier Machine(s) - Unable to load System SP

    Hey guys,

Picked up about 6 machines from the CA State last week. I'm trying to reset the admin password but each time I press on it, it beeps and then stops.

I am assuming the IT department forgot to unlock the machines. Is there a way around this so I can start using them by editing settings?

If that doesn't work, it will have to be reset in Factory mode, and no one should be posting that procedure here in a public forum.
You're not on to anything new here. There are dozens of threads related to resetting passwords.
The procedure is the same for basically every model

But if Service Mode is disabled by the Administrator, can you get into Factory mode or will it require replacing the NVram?

    Fine question!
I'm honestly not sure if Factory mode is available in that case, but my guess is that it is; However, there's no indication based on his initial post that that's the case here at all imo.

Yes factory mode should be available, if he can figure out the key sequence to get into factory mode.

If there is, it is not the method that I have used access Factory reset to clear administrator and supervisor passwords or to change some of the settings that Ricoh has moved to Factory Mode. I wonder if there is a way to clear the supervisor password by TELNETTing in to the base OS?

Unfortunately, logging in without a password in Supervisor account is not successful

If you are with an authorized Ricoh dealer, submit a request for a support visit from the Regional service rep. There is a link for submitting a request on TSRC. Otherwise call the Product Support at 1-800-333-2679. Getting 6 machines saleable should be worth paying for a support visit.

Here you go. This should reset passwords.

    To reset supervisor/admin passwords
    Reset, reset, 1,4,3,clear,clear(hold)
    SP5846-46

At least it used to do it.
