Today I was working in the copy room of a larger high school. The teachers were throwing the usual snipes about how bad the copiers are, blah, blah, blah. You know talking about you and the machines like you arent there listening. Right about the time I was ready to pull my machete out of my tool kit and begin the slaughter, a teacher (or aide) brought two mainstream, developmentally disabled young men in. The one was curious came over to ask what I was fixing on the copier. The aide came and pulled him back telling him I was working and not to bother me. The young man said to the aide Isnt it amazing how you can take a drawing, put it on a copier and make as many copies as you want of it I wonder how it does that? It must take a really smart person to fix these Do you think I would ever get smart enough to fix them? At that point I think the aide was getting a little embarrassed. So she told him to quiet down. I was thinking to myself, young man, you might not be as smart as anyone in this room, but you have more intelligence than most of them.
