As for the customer "preferring it be the same".....what's different as far as they're concerned other that the path displayed on the screen when they touch their name, and a small program running in the background that that will never bother them?
Otherwise, the process is identical. In fact, in offices that I have 4 or 5 individual PC's to scan to rather than a server, I prefer FTP, because it's unaffected by password changes, and/or windows updates that seem to change network settings and screw up SMB on a more than regular basis these days.
FTP is a much more stable process (for me anyway) in these situations
Sandy: FTP requires a servername and a path. Can I use my own pc as server? Thanks for your answer!

What FTP software do you use. We use filezilla but it only works with the pc IP not the name.

Does this mean that you want to leave your PC at your customer's location?

    Hoi Slim,
i know one PC can hold a server and a host for user at the same time...
So 2 platforms are installed on one computer (f.i. Windows server 2008 AND Win10).
So, my thought was that maybe in that case it might be possible?

Windows Server can handle a lot more simultaneous processes than any Edition of Windows 10.

    Manual SMB Walkthrough (Windows Computer)

Creating a hidden user for the copier (Windows “Pro” Versions only)

Windows Firewall Settings to allow Scans

    - Click “Start/ Control Panel”.
    - Double-Click “Windows Firewall” and on the left side click “Advanced Settings”
    - On the left, click “Inbound Rules”.
    - Scroll down to “File and Printer Sharing”, select all the ones related to “SMB-In” and “NB”, and Enable those.
    - Scroll down to “Network Discovery” and Enable the ones related to “NB” as well.

If the customer is using a 3rd Party Firewall (Norton/McAfee/etc.), you'll need to have them get in touch with the vendor to find out how to configure it to allow SMB scans.

    Hope this helps.
