hi all

I have a strange fax issue with a develop +224e which is basically the konica c224e whereby we upgraded it to have a fax kit as the customer wanted to get rid of there old canon fax machine (which was working fine) however when you plug the fax line into the 224, you get a dial tone which is noisy and nothing can be sent just keeps re-dialing and fails to connect. the dial tone is clean on the canon.

things ive tried

no filter and straight into the socket
with filter into socket
slowed speeds
checked for 50v in telephone socket
swapped the fax unit for another fax unit
changed cables and the fax lead is a manufacturer one and brand new
turned on and off ecm
i can call it but it doesnt receive faxs

anything i could be missing?

thanks in advance

Is it obviosly noisy or just a bit? I always have a cheap line phone in my car - it's somewhat better to listen after noise issues.

We had some faulty FKs in the past, brand new and not working properly during installation so it might be aother case of bad luck at your end.

Did you test the line from the socket with a test phone? Not thru the machine but the wall? Is the customer using a DSL set up?

@gift
we havent tried a phone straight into the socket but the customer has a friend in BT who he got out to test the line and said it was all ok, and it is pretty noisy.
weve put 2 brand new fax kits into it and both the same but my colleague did notice on the back of the canon they've got it has some kind of built in filter?

@mo6501
yh the customer has a dsl setup
again not plugged a phone straight in just through the fax machines

thanks for replies got me stumped

Did you set the fax country code and then initialize the fax kit?

Install a DSL filter on the phone line.It is probably tapped into their internet signal.

A bit of a random suggestion, but maybe try change the country dialling code to another country
strange suggestion but has worked for me before.
