I had a message to replace the drum, copies were coming out grey. I changed the drum, the error message is gone but the copies are coming out completely black...I did except the new drum to the machine,,not sure what else I can do..

Assuming you still have the old drum, try putting it back into the machine and seeing if you still get an all black print. Often an all black print indicates a charge issue, so make sure all the metal pins inside the machine where the drum sits are making proper contact with the drum.

On an additional note, Brother machines have a quirk where you can get a grey backgrounding on pages if the toner cartidge is getting low. They rely on the toner cartidge as part of the cleaning system for the drum, so when it starts getting old it dumps used toner back into the surface of the drum.
