We are thinking of using the c3350 as a small desk top MFP, does anybody have an opinion on their relaibility and ease of service.Any infomation on them would be useful.
Thank you

I have 3 C3850FS machines in field. Your typical maint seems to be rather simple as most the new machines. Only issue I had was a bad gear in drive assy making horrible noise. Not to difficult but not that fun to replace. The Op Panel is a little bit different in the menu setup but nothing that isn't easy to use. Non business hours weekly timer seems to be on by default so be sure to turn that off.

More reliable than a C35. We recently used 3350 & 3380 to replace some C35 and its amazing how little problems they cause by comparison especially considering the engine is almost identical

I think we have sold 4... had to update firmware on all for stooooopid stuff. Most died during or right after. Enjoy!!!
If I had too, Get any extended warranty with it!!!

Think of it as an amalgamation of the mechanical reliability of Lexmark, and the mind bending firmware bugs of Konica Minolta.

Like the other Konica Minolta A4 Format machines... poor quality.

-Really bad print and copy quality
-transferbeld problems
-jam problems
-dont uprade the firmware

+cheap in toner and imaging units.

don't agree with not updating the firmware, the original firmware is absolutely terrible. The latest firmware it a lot more stable.

we have 1 -200 in the field presently.

number 1 fault is touch panels failing - and they're costly. None of the replaced ones have failed again though.

Jams caused by careless endusers are indeed an issue.

environments with rough end users will see the plastic clip pop off the transfer belt retraction drive shaft - removing the jammed belt will be frightening for the uninitiated. It's actually pretty easy when you know what to do.

failing mfp boards, imaging units and other issues are no where near as common but do happen.

Print quality is crap compared to the full size machines, be under no illusion your getting the same print quality because your not.

I would say decent but not good. I've seen brand new fusers wrinkle paper, paper exit roller issues, control panel issues, slow machine. I would say reminds me of a grown up C35 with new issues.

yes wrinking! and the warranty is apparently only 3 months

Have many in the field. Haven't seen many hardware issues. Replaced a control panel once. Did have two fusers recently that are wrinkling paper. Last one only used 30% of fuser.

Firmware is a pain in the ass to me. There is 3 different firmware to flash. Controller, sub controller, and engine.

If you do any embedded papercut solution they can be a pain to work with.

No where near as bad as the C35

My Sales Manager did bring up a point that it takes 7 steps to print out a meter read on these and he hates the idea of customers going thru that many steps to get to it. Unless I'm missing something is there an easier way to print out the meter reads on the models with this smaller control panel?

Don't worry explaining Meyer page print outs to customer. You'll be there every month anyway

perhaps when over sold, but the ones in my area I've been to very little. They are a small desktop machine for a small work group with light demands and should be used as such.

having said that i have about 100 c25's with at minimum 100k on the clock causing regular annoyances, a few c35's with nearly 400k. One that did make it to 400k kept blowing mfp boards once a month so it went in the bin - screw power supply replacement on a c35.

don't like them myself. control panel failures, fuser fails, print/ copy quality is so/so - cheap feel to them and warranty is couple of months. Better than C35 series though.

I've been affectionately referring to the C3350 as "around 130 pounds of plastic and hatred", which is a much nicer nickname than the original one when we first encountered the model: "A C35 on steroids with a boob job".

Menu, Utility, User Settings, Printer Settings, Print Reports, Counter List, Print. Yes, it's seven steps, but that's how Willie waters.

KM tech 16 years.... I have a c3850 with transfer belt stuck. not sure how to go about it. i guess i can pull the whole thing apart. However I'm sure there is a way to take it out with less disassembly. any ideas? yes the clip fell off the belt.

I feel sorry for you, I had to reap one apart 2 weeks back with belt stuck due to the belt cleaning unit making noise as the coil couldn't drive a stoned toner inside, mind you this thing is new 15 000 prints. I had to tear it apart I know some brothers here will tell Me RTFM which is a fact but the unfortunate part is we don't have it, that's management politics for us in the field is to make sure that we fix the devices by all means legally.

How does your company management expect you to repair a machine without the service manual? That’s Day One stuff. If they refuse to obtain manuals for service technicians to service machines properly according to manufacturers specs, well, I have a few things to say about that, none of which are exactly “appropriate”.

(Report to whatever governing body has authority in the situation that technicians are being required to repair machines without service manuals, risking costly damage to expensive machinery and potentially leaving the company open to legal action by a customer)
(Refuse the repair unless given proper technical manuals)
(Start looking elsewhere for employment)

But those aren’t appropriate so I won’t say them.

I have 20 of them and decent machine. No major issues. Wish Kon Min would learn from prior machines and changelittle things like the ADF & manual feed trays always breaking, etc
