c6500 printing sheets with 100% black coverage

Strange one here, got a c6500 and it's covering the entire sheet with black - it's not a 100% tint, probably equivalent grey of 50-60% tint. I thought the corona might be gone and shorting drum but I put in a new corona, then a new K drum and that didn't work. The swapped over a dev unit to rule that out, but it was still the same. Have also tried swapping over the transfer belt unit from another machine and it's still the same.

It gets weirder, I printed some gamma adjustment sheets from service menu and they're all fine but the minute I print from the RIP (creo ic304), I get the black coverage, so guessing the issue lies there. Anyone got any ideas?

Believe it or not, I came to the same realization when lying awake in bed last night
      That's exactly what it was!
