Hi,

Struggling with a fault on a C25.

Original call was for noisy. On arrival it was the CIS (scan lamp assy) continually trying to drive to the left and hitting the frame. Tried a few manual adjustments, but always drove too far to the left.

The is no scanner lock on a C25....that I can see, or know of?

We replaced just the CIS. The C25 went ready to copy, so we tested with a copy on the glass and it scanned ok, but had two solid black lines, ranging in size, in the feed direction. Then the CIS went mad again and carried on driving to the left! Feeding through the doc feeder has a similar outcome.

We also get a C0650 code intermittantly.

We have now ordered another CIS assy and the flat cable.

Has anyone seen this?

We had exactly the same problem. The CIS was just driving into the frame on the left side.

We replaced the CIS and this fixed the problem for us (was a used CIS from a scrapper).

Was it an old used CIS you fitted? There was a post i read earlier today about how the light fades after time (C35 opposed to a C25), it may have trouble detecting the home position. If you are getting black lines, the replacement CIS could be about to fail too.

Again another C35 but a similar sounding problem. One of the solutions was a firmware fix - you could check if there is an update for the C25.

Regarding scanner locks, the manual says to check them when you get C0640, but i agree with you, I don't think there is a lock on this model!

Thanks,

It was a new CIS assembly fitted first time round, but we suspected that it could of been faulty. We ordered a second one, along with the flat ribbon cable and it corrected the fault.
Machine is being returned to customer tomorrow.

I was (till recently) keeping a CIS assy in the car stock since these machines first came out, the fault was that common. A new CIS always fixed it for me.

While your in there, some plastic grease on the tensioner idler pulley will stop it making stupid noises as about 50% in the field end up doing.
