I need an ic306 - obviously these are difficult to come by on their own!

If anyone knows of any sources (that don't cost the earth), please let me know. Alternatively, is adapting a PC a possibility (e.g. adding the image processing board & software to a windows machine)?

The best idea would probably be to wait for a cheap one on eBay. The interface board by itself is probably harder to come by and the mobo in the fiery has a security eprom on it to make it work together anyway. So no you can't make a pc be a fiery

Thanks Tekhed, figured that might be the case. I'd been keeping an eye out for them on ebay but they don't seem to come up individually in the UK at all :(
Spoken to a couple of indy dealers too but same story.

EFI-Fiery has protected their enabled features in Eprom, Bios and U-EFI and also on Disk.
A broken Fiery can be restored with a new HD, but not with a new Motherboard from scratch.
EFI has nothing to do with the U-EFI Boot progress on new Motherboards.
EFI -Fiery is Electronics For Imaging.
U-EFI is Bios for modern PC.(dont wonna let yet a bad word ad it, grmmh)

But this doesnt protect you from broken hardware.
If Motherboard breaks, you have only to reinvest in reparation, appending of price of your machine,
or spend into a complete new system.

A 8 years old controller is same old as System, its over its age.
I send last years a lot of 125i, 200i, Phenom and others to the garbage.
