Hi everyone, after a bit of advice if possible, we have a UTAX 4505ci which I think is a badged Kyocera 4551ci, it has a fax kit on and recently came up with the problem of not printing a fax job out as it was saying "add paper to tray 1" we have had this problem on an older machine, but never really resolved it as the customer upgraded the machine, i have searched this forum and found some other posts related to this problem without any definitive solution.

We originally went out, checked all paper tray settings, all media types, sizes etc, no change, remove fax board and the machine works fine, we did a firmware upgrade, memory initilize etc, all to no avail, as soon as the fax kit goes back in it pops up with the error. My thought was there must be something stuck in the memory of the fax kit, order new fax kit and problem solved. Went back yesterday with new to install the fax kit, no error message, send a fax no problems but as soon as we try to recieve one from our office, just a standard A4, the same problem arises, so we are back to having a fax stuck in the memory that we cant delete  This machine has been in for a year or so, sending and recieving faxes fine.

Anyone got any thoughts on this, any help or advice appreciated.

Make sure that at least one tray containing A4 is set to paper size = auto (not a fixed size).

Export user data to USB in sim U917. Note destination, SMTP, and IP address. Run Data Clear U022. The offending document will be printed. Re-enter data and import U917 data. =^..^=

Is there a "resize/reduce fax to fit paper" function in the Users Options?

Reckon Blackcat has nailed it. Had this recently ourselves. Tried everything and it drove us nuts. Thought a HDD format would solve it but needed the data clear. All back to normal.

This machine [ TA-4551ci ]does not have U022. Are you referring to U021 instead, please update.

The machine that I did this on successfully was a CS-2560. U021 will be more destructive, but should produce the same effect.

Don't forget to note the destination. Otherwise your Utax may become a Kyocera or Olivetti or Coystar, and consequently not accept the toner that you have installed. =^..^=

hi guys, just an update, you were right, it was as simple as changing the paper tray from designated size to auto, I was certain I had tried that, but obviously not, one of those times when you start going in one direction and start over complicating things, someone on site must have changed some settings because it had been working fine for a long time, basically, I blame the customer! ;-)

Cheers for the advice.
