We've used C6500 Toner in our C7000 and C7000 toner in our C6500 too many times to count. It's the same. It works and there are no issues. Does anyone know if the Simitri Toner originally used in the 1050's is the same as the 951 Simitri toner? I have noticed that where it used to be referred to as
"Simitri Polymerized Toner" it's now referred to as "Simitri HD Polymerized Toner"

I ask as we are about to retire our 1050 and still have quite a bit of toner and it would be helpful if we could continue to use it in our 951.

Anyone know if the formulation has changed?

Thanks!

Well, let me clarify. The bottles are slightly different but I found that once one of my employees had forced a c6500 toner bottle into a C7000 and it printed just fine. Well a while later when both machines had gone off contract, we started getting low on toners. So we'd open the bottles and interchange them. Meaning...open a empty 6500 bottle and open a 7000 bottle, pour the contents of the 7000 bottle into the 6500 bottle and close it up and use it. 6500 to 7000 and 7000 to 6500.

So yes, I have used 6500 toner in 7000's and 7000 toner in 6500s. MANY times. Maybe 25 times. Never ANY kind of issue. Copy quality was perfect and unchanged.

So is the toner the same? Well I can't say if it's exactly the same, but I can say it works perfectly and without issues.

I have no experience with 8000's.

Chris

Do you mean B951 and B1050?

I am asking about a Bizhub Pro 951 B&W and a Bizhub Pro 1050e B&W

I don't know B951 and B1050 and have never heard of the machines referred to as that.

I believe the toner should be the same on the 951 and the 1050.

What you can do is to strip open the hopper close the the dev tank and empty it.
Then add some (3 table spoons) toner you would like to test. It should run thru in about 2000 prints.
If that looks ok fill up the hopper and see what that does.
If its not the same you will get fogging or toner build up on the fuser/web roller.

The faster the machine runs the quicker the toner resin needs to melt to fuse well.

I can't say as I don't have any experience with the 8000.

I do know that C5500 / C6500 Toner and C6000 / C7000 Toner are interchangeable. NOT the bottles themselves....you have to physically open the end of the bottle and transfer the toner into the appropriate bottle.

To open the bottle simply take a small flat blade screwdriver and pry the cap open, there are two "tabs" that once you release them it comes right off.

I am going to have a chance to check out 1070 toner, I'll report back what I find out.

Just do it the worst that can happen is you can loose your developer i guess.

I Agree. Worst case scenario is developer/toner leak ( and cleaning anything under afterward :) )

Not tied to main question but toner of C220/224/258/C227 is same and i think BW 224-227 is same but didnt test.

No there is a key difference between C220 toner and C224 toner.
Developer replenishment is introduced with the C224 range.
