I don't know Lex that much. Customer said they moved machine "very carefully" in car to new office, when they turn it on they get this scanner message. I tried a few things in service manual like disable then enabled the scanner lock in config mode. The scanner lock by glass is unlocked. I didn't have time to take scanner apart. It don't look that easy to get to scan optics under glass.

Anything common with these scanners and codes?

Thanks in advance

Could be that when they moved it, something shifted in there and the scanner isn't reaching home position or something. I think you'll have to open it up and get to that scanner.

Look inside under the glass at the scanner drive belt (towards the front of machine) and see if there is tension on it (should be taut), if it looks loose or has a bit of a slack in the belt, most likely the side with the spring is torn at the loop binding area. I've replaced about a half dozen of these belts, 2 on just one machine.

Here's the part reference number 40X5214:

Disassembly:
off of memory
waste toner comes out
both side and rear upper and lower covers
adf comes off, connector on left rear side pwb
upper side covers (2 screws on each and slides forward before coming out)
top front cover snaps off or pops out (the one in front of glass)
original glass comes off (screws holding glass assembly on both sides and front)
belt accessible after glass comes off

Also, take out the PSU, and clean the connector that goes into main board assı, sometimes one of the pins are blacked with carbon, making electrical noise & malfunctions in other boards
