Hello,

We have lots of these machines but we have two that constantly wear the drum early with claw lines. We have removed them for now but this is not the best solution.

Anyone have similar problems?

Thanks

There are several reasons for damaging the drums.
I sugest that the develop roller is making too big brush with developer.Open the develop box and check that the screws there are thigthend.
Mby the charge corona is in bad condition.
Are the blades new?
Im working with alot of old analog machines and usualy they are very easy to maintance. Most of the problems are mechanical not electrical so its easyer to fix 'em just with watching carefully :)

It is the drum claws doing the damage as we have 3 defined lines that line up perfectly with the claws.

Ups my mystake i thank that the damage looks like from a claw,
well on EP 1050 the claws on the drum are maked with metal and plastic. On 1054/52 they are with modified plastic only and they are hanged.
The removal of the claws is the best solution if you are sure in the media that uses the machine and if the lower corona is working properly. If the machine doesnt jam on the imaging unit so its all good :) If it jams u need to replace the corotron wires on the lower corona (the first one is for geting the toner of the drum to the blank sheet and the second one to remove the sheet with toner from the drum). We have a couple machines with removed claws and they seems to work fine.

Hi this is normally caused by the drum claw shaft and drum claw hole becoming contaminated! My proven solution is to removed the claws clean and polish the shaft then clean with sovent to romove any polish residue. Then to replace the drum claws and SPRINGS ...problem solved!..Si

I'm not trained on this beast, but does it have a cammed unit that moves the drum pawls back and forth to prevent drum wear like a 7165? Is it operating if it does?

yes it does so you get 3 sets of claw lines about 10mm wide.

Now i'm on the same page. I've seen that at life, but not early. How many copies when it appears?
