First time I've experienced this on one of these.

Guide number 7 on the stapler unit develops a nick in it from normal usage which catches only the fist sheet and stops it going all the way back into the stapler. All sheets after it go over the top of it to the back no problems.

Good news is that it works without it just fine. Remove it and problem solved.

This is what the nick looks like:

Wow, i had a similar one today. the exit mylar on a 1052 finisher. there was a doubled up black mylar on the upper exit "feed me Seymour" gate.
had a nice split in it and caused intermittent 7217 jams.
nice info KM, i see that once in a while.

I have the same problem, even when i am not using staple the first page does not align and has an angle about half the times.I thought maybe some glue from the packaging of the paper had stuck on the rollers so i cleaned them but with no result. From the pictures you posted i cannot understand where that guide is to remove it.Can it be seen externally?I must remove entirely the finisher to access it?Maybe a zoom out picture of where it is would help me.Thanks in advance
