The jam seems to occur right around the Registration section with just a small amount of paper coming through before it stops. It is always the third piece of paper. The first sheet is already in the duplex section and the second piece is just starting into the duplex section when the machine stops. I have searched and found issues with J20-02 on different models but none for this particular one.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thank You!;)

check the bushings on the reg roller. is it real tough to turn by hand? if you push the silver shaft back does the reg roller turn with ease?
had 2 like that and it was the bushings on the silver shaft that were binding. a pain to remove that whole vertical plate to access but maybe can cheat with a bit of tri-flow and that tiny straw.

Only does it running tray2?

Try removing the paper dust filter and clean off PS40 and make sure the actuator that's next to it, is not stuck. Usually the PS40 gets covered in paper dust and causes jams.

Just by a chance, isn't the rear lock claw on the bottom RH door broken? This does affect T2 mainly. You may have noticed slight skew on prints, unless the reg loop made a good job compensating the skew correction.
Regards to vertical. Check the swivel plate above T1. Those white pulleys tend to seize. Someone may have mention sorry for repetition.

Byting on bits.

Update: both tray 1 and tray 2 is doing the same now. You can hear a little grinding noise that is very faint just before they pull the paper. I was thinking of changing out the drive unit for them and seeing if it helps.

Try swapping in a known good Tray 1 feed assembly. Have had reg issues with that unit before. Also check the grey "Removal Guide Assy" for excessive wear.
