Hey Everyone,

I have a Konica Minolta C364 in the field that I cannot scan to email to working using the customers Office 365 email settings. The machine will scan to email using other email hosts, the customer is dead set against using anything other than their Microsoft Office 365 account. I have been working with their IT Company and we have exhausted all our ideas. When sending scans from the bizhub the machine reports a forward tx error. The machine is running current firmware version G00-72 and we have tried all kinds of things including setting up a security certificate, different ports and settings with no luck.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

see attached.

Konica Minolta fully supports scan-to-email using Microsoft® Office 365™.
Microsoft® Office 365™ uses SHA-2 for its mandatory hashing cryptography algorithm.

In 2002, SHA-2 became the new recommended hashing standard. SHA-2 is often called the SHA-2 family of hashes because it contains many different-size hashes, including 224-, 256-, 384-, and 512-bit digests.Currently the most popular one is 256-bits

As of January 1, 2016, Microsoft will no longer allow certificate authorities in the Microsoft Root Certificate Program to issue certificates for SSL or code signing that use the SHA-1 hashing algorithm. SHA-2 is the preferred method now.

The following are the incoming and outgoing IMAP server settings for Office 365.

Setting IMAP (incoming) SMTP (outgoing)
Server Name outlook.office365.com smtp.office365.com
Port Number 993 587
Encryption Method SSL TLS

An additional thing to check: The machine email, Admin email, and SMTP login email must ALL be the same or else you'll get that exact error.

Just installed a Bizhub 654 into an office that uses office 365 and I am getting this same forward TX error also. They have a 652 there also that does work just fine with all the same settings I have on the 654 so I am hoping that it is this firmware issue. Does anyone have it that would give it to me? Thanks

the machine currently has firmware A55V0Y0-3000-G00-30

For the 4 non e series there is special firmware to install. I can't give it to you but I can tell you the versions. Install special firmware ending GB0-A9, and GB2-K5. And set softswitch 25 to hex 20

I've got a Bizhub C220 that I'm getting the same error on. I have a 2 Bizhub 364e's that i am using the same email settings on without issue. Do I need a special firmware for this printer or am i missing something else? This is the output from the Rom version Page in the web gui.

Basically anything older than 364, 284, ect. can't be updated enough to support TLS1.2 needed for O365. The 364, 284, ect and the 4e family machines can be updated one way or another to support it.

I have tested the following models with the following firmwares. They will work with Office365 on these firmwares.

Models
Function Version
Firmware

C224 C284 C364 C454 C554
7
GR5-M0

C654 C754
7
GR5-M0

224e 284e 364e 454e 554e
7
GDS-M1

654e 754e
7
GDU-M0

C224e C284e C364e C454e C554e
7
GDU-M1

C654e C754e
7
GDU-M0

Anything newer than the stuff in the table will work with Office365 since they support the necessary versions of TLS and ciphers.

If you have an older machine, can't update firmware, or can't change function version you must use another email relay that has different TLS and cipher requirements.

Hi there,

I am getting this error message on a C300i along with the error code 3025, which looking in the manual comes with the description of "The SMTP server does not support the STARTTLS command."

This is with using the SMTP Auth Client Submission. The account has SMTP Auth enabled, we don't have the port blocked by our firewall, but it errors out when using the O365 SMTP.

Attached I have a printscreen of the settings page. The SMTP Authentication in the screenshot had all options and the Login checked. The emails blacked out are all the same.

i leave all authentication methods enabled for office365

also try logging via outlook.com with those credentials. might be some weird 2FA/MFA enabled on the account that copier doesnt understand.

I've tried it with all enabled and it still errors out with the 3025, there shouldn't be any 2fa, we don't have any accounts using 2fa on our domain and I was able to log into that account's outlook with no 2fa. I'll try the .outlook, it's smtp.outlook.com right?
