thats entirely too vague.
what SMTP server/settings?
if gmail or office365 you need special firmware as the non-e machines dont support the new security protocols.
please elaborate.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Client is using 2 Copiers (C284e and C364). Both are using Gmail. C284e is scanning but 364 doesn't.

If firmware? Can you please send me . Thanks and Regards,

This Office365 confuses me - I have a customer using a C451 and C454e - guess wich machine causing no trouble? It's the totally outdated C451 working flawless while the C454e does cause intermittent server connection issues. Tried latest FW and bulletins, fixed network speed and even swapping the network connection between both MFPs wich didn't change anything. I also don't understand why the error isn't reproduceable all the time - it's also not dependent on how much pages I need to scan.

Try setting gmail to "allow less secure apps"

Is the firmware updated on the C364 to G00-72 ? It won't scan to email if it's not updated. I had the same problem with a C284. Once I updated the firmware it worked. Gmail updated their security settings and without the updated firmware the machine won't scan. There is a bulletin about the firmware and scanning issue.

I couldn't it to scan to email at all without updated firmware. It didn't matter which email it was authenticating through whether it be gmail, Office 365, yahoo, or the local internet provider. If the firmware isn't updated I suggest trying that first. It will drive you crazy.. trust me.

can the OP please confirm what mail sever your using with details such as what port, encryption (if any), if authentication is req or off

if its gmail i use the not SSL server address and enable "allow less ecure apps"

depending on the mail server using your ISP mail server might be a option

As has already been stated, you need to update the firmware first (firmware effectively makes it an 'e' machine).

Once done, you need to make the following settings:

1. Login to your GMAIL account and turn on 'Less secure apps' - If this is not turned on, then it simply will not work!

2. Set mail server address to smtp.gmail.com, choose start TLS, and set to port 465

3. Turn on authentication, and input your @gmail.com address as the username and put your password in.

You also need to have the device email address set etc to match the gmail account.
