Fuser abuse. What is this junk at the ends of the roller? Can I clean it w/something?

[KM C6500 - newly acquired, just going through it to establish some baseline maintenance so that it will suit my needs]

Pulled fuser assembly out planning to replace just the fuser belt...

(I've been getting some "greasy" looking track marks on prints)

Inspecting it, it looks like there is a bunch of white gunk on the lower fuser roller: (<-- full size link)

As well as some gunk on the right side as well... (<-- full size link)

Maybe I should buy a lower fuser roller too before taking this thing apart?

Any idea what this stuff is? Is there any type of cleaner or solvent that can be used on that lower roller to clean it?

    Thanks!

The fusing roller contains oil that acts like a web of mono equipment. When it warms up, when it receives heat, it releases the oil and transfers the oil to the fusing belt.
However, when the fusing roller is old, the oil is gone and the fusing belt can not be polished. Then replace it.
It is not a problem to wipe the surface of the fusing roller with a soft cloth or melt.
    Replace only the fusing belt.
