Customer having an issue whereas the toner will say empty when it is not. customer takes out bottle and reinstalls. it works for a while and toner message comes back. we suspect they removed the cartridge before the machine said to which would cause this problem as per the manual. however how do you get this to stop so that they can use the machine? any insight greatly appreciated.

Not sure of this on the 36, but on some of the earlier models (C550, C552) when this happened the user was instructed to disregard the message until the MFP displayed the replace toner now message on the panel. At this point they could no longer copy. If a new bottle (new chip) was installed, the message went away. Emujo

There must be a fault with the toner supply. The reason the customer removed the bottle to start with. Its not getting toner to the sub-hopper or something else is wrong.
It works like a B250 in a way. If it does not sense toner in the sub-hopper it will turn the bottle, if it still detects no toner in there it will ask for toner.
The level indicator is not really that accurate.

Make sure the bottle is turning. That white hook patient is known to be crappy.
If they continue what they are doing its going to result in a C255X error.
