Any pointers please.

Here is a scan of a pront where the registration points are all pretty good but the black is way out of register.

From InDesign I can create a postscript file of the original layout and it is OK, but if I create a pdf of the same file and place it in INDesign creating another postscript file the registration is bad.

The print herewith was a pdf of the original file (which I had intended to print 2-up A4) placed in InDesign and then a further postscript file created to the Fiery and the registration is bad.

My question is: Could it be the Fiery or the printer?

ANY help please . . .

Barney

Try the file with another PS printer or bypass the fiery to check.

the black looks fine to me, what you are missing is trapping.

Sorry, I do not agree about black looking fine- the registration is miles out.

It only happens with PDF files.

just to be specific, you are talking about the white border all around the solid black letters and images?
if it was registration there would be bleed-over on one side, the "halos" are even all around which is poor trapping.
if you are seeing something else please point it out.
