We have battled for a while now with these $$$ ADF feed assemblies. We clean them and they work for a while, then problem re-occurs and we replace them with good results. (no data shown on rated life)

Have inspected both units and they appear exactly the same ( 2 different part #s and C3351 is yet another part #)

Another sticking point is the 2 small black levers at the top they can be knocked loose too easily.

We have a fairly new C3350 that they called in for noise.... It was the feed assembly attempting to lift. Put a new assembly & pad in it and it tested fine. Got a call for "broken" part Friday and it was the 2 small black levers had popped loose. Then, they are saying that it is still makes the noise. ( I did not duplicate while there though)

Rant over !!

I could not get the 2 small black levers to go up into the cover Friday.

Rechecked the manual and I was correct, white bushing 1st, then fold up while moving 2 center hanging levers out of the way. then they show tucking the 2 small black levers under cover last, then latch. Once it is in place the small black levers will not tuck under the cover.

Going to inspect a 36 at the shop in the AM...

Thanks !!

I have a feeling I have already seen this mod here on CTN. Just need more searching http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.png But here it is again, hope this helps you to solve your problem.

Allan have a solution to that retract fault and weird noise by putting coil spring around the pin housing with 4 slots, that slides inside the feed assemnbly.

1, Find decent coil spring that fits inside the hole of the feed assembly and also it will have a tinght fit onto the drive shaft pinion housing/ square clutch.
2, Put the coil on the the slotted housing mark and cut.
3, Slide the pin inside but not all the way, not pass the lock point as it won't fit through the second hole in the feed assembly.
4, Once in place, then fully insert the pin and lock it in place.
5, Put cover and sping on and secure with screw.

I think it was designed to either wear easy and made you to buy expensive replacement. i think those rollers actually do last quite a bit. Probably more than the ones at C203 ;)

But the truth is customers like to yank the paper out of the machine without opening the top door..This gives a lot of pressure on the rolls since there is a 1-way spring clutch. and the 4 slot housing gets a good wear..It starts to skip.

The skip mechanism is actually a good idea just not fully thought through. Then again Japs are a lot more sensitive unlike some rough..office folks :D. Even Samurai will slice you without you noticing you just lost your head. :D ( I meant this as a joke and hope no one will take offence, one never know in this day and age.)

CREDIT TO ALLAN as I just noticed I have pretty much nicked Allan's idea just without any special drilling or making groves. Allan used one round of coil I used tape initally across the slot points, later started using few rounds from springs. Just found Allans reply in thread:
http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/konica-minolta/117319-new-konica-minolta-c3350.html

"You can fix the ratchet by cutting a groove at the end of the female bit and snapping a single turn of a spring that fits over it.
Its a stupid revers assy to lift the rollers after feeding."

Sorry Allan, didn't want to strip you of your ideas! Please forgive me, wasn't intentional. My memory works rather weird way. I had a flashback I've seen it somewhere, should have searched for it.
Amended my initial post. hope all's cool.

After further review........

Had the 2 small levers near top of assembly placed wrong.

Returned this AM, and got them correctly placed.

Thanks to all for the help !!

They said it was still having trouble lifting back up......but, I could not duplicate.

The Japanese do not understand how "heavy handed" the US can be when it comes to machines. Rip & Tear !

Hehehe Well you master it.

hehe dont try to defend this crappy patent. If it works in Africa it will work anywhere. Except if is a B36/42 they don't work here.

Crappy is leaf blower when you try to wipe your ass. Using a decent leaf will suffice. But inveting toilet paper is another dimension, hence why we have brains to create invetions. :D There it even rhymes :D
