BOOTP on after a power outage

I've seen this happen on a few printers, T612s and T630s. IP addressing is static and all is well. After a power outage at site I get a service call that the printer isn't working. I check to find that the IP has gone to a dynamic address from the pool, rather than the static as assigned. Checking parameters, indeed BOOTP is enabled where it was not before. What is happening here? A flaky NIC that can't retain its settings? This does not happen to every Lexmark at the site, just one of 3 as in yesterday's encounter.
