Hi there,

we have a C2588 not booting up / display is stuck at two bars after you turn on the machine. Already tried HDD and a new eMMC board suggested by KM and it still won't boot but at least you can hear some fans running (before eMMC replacement there was nothing running). I did now order a new MFB board, hoping this will do the trick.

Anyone else had some experiences with non-booting Cxx8 and some intel to share?

thx in advance

Try replacing the memory module(s)

Try replacing the memory module(s)

Thanks, I'll check that but not shure if the C258 basic setup has any replaceable RAM module beside it's "onboard memory" anymore unless you have an UK/LK based option running.

The same happened to me with a C224e and in addition to changing the MMC you have to do it with a reset tools in the usb and make a backup restore .

We've tried booting with MFP reset toll (that tiny 10kb *.tar file) - no change of behaviour unfortunately :(

With the method of the three usb?

Hi, what do you mean with "method of the three usb"?

There is a method to reset these machines with three different firmwares in three usb for malfunction codes like C-D011. The first was a GG3-54 boot firmware, the second one was a normal firmware and the third one was the a789be.tar reset firmware . Maybe the boot firmware helps you start the machine

Interesting, I just checked my dealer account for some sort of bulletin and found it - I've heard about it a year ago or so at some meeting but totally forgot^^

Indeed a very good hint, thank you - lot's of stuff we can try now. I'll keep you guys posted / visit is scheduled next week though.

So my collegue tried the MFP board repair procedure. Booting the recovery tool -> no change -> booting with s-ata FW -> machine finally boot up into the update but says "FW already up to date". Then he did again installed the new eMMC board while leaving the HDD disconnected and then the machine worked. He was shure that he tried that before so it's unclear how this procedure did the magic. After re-installing the HDD the adress book was also back on track.

I'll keep the new MFP board in stock in case this is just a temporary success.

I had a C654 hang on 2 bars. I removed all accessories, finisher, ADF, all usb connections. See if it turns on. If it does, add one accessory at a time until you hang again. Or in my case just reseating the ADF pin connector fixed my issue.

Where does one find the reset tool on KM's tech side website? I can't seem to locate it anywhere? I've looked under special and regular firmware? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

2 Shark fins is usually MMC / SSD requires replacement. Rule out others by trying other memory and disconnecting the HDD. Also ensure network is disconnected. I have heard a couple of rare cases where the DS board in the back for the ADF CCD causes this issue.

It was the DS board when I had a C368 doing the same, even when I told the m/c it no longer had an RADF, it still happened, I had to physically remove the board to stop it happening.

Definitely the ssd. Ask your supplier to organize one. They should have a specific order code to organize a new one. I just had one crap out on me and I was experiencing the same symptoms as you. Hope you get er done! All the best!

Same here with regard to the eMMC board on a Olivetti MF223 / Konica C227. replaced the MFP first and had exactly same symptom. started with the SATA then tried the eMMC.

I have solved several machines with these problems, from series 4 to series 8, the first thing I do is turn on the machine with the yellow reset key, I enter service mode, initialize data, turn off and turn on the machine, it gives me an original error and I go back to load base firmware, and it is solved, try to see if you are lucky

You can just repair the motherboard.
If there is no board repair technician nearby, replace the motherboard.
