ran the stabilization settings...

I am checking if there are any more detail settings and steps to calibrate the colors...
image looks ok to me... but customer said its off...
no bluriness...
just want to calibrate colors...

spoke with mgr...

Most likely it is their screen that needs calibrating! see this a lot customer not getting printed image the same as whats on their PC screen.

HOWEVER if you are not using genuine toner/parts you WILL get this issue too.

No need to clean the belt this won't help.

Try print head skew reset. Then Stabilisation. Gradation. After adjustment ends and you are in main service mode menu press start. (This should be done everytime you do calibrations anyway.)

Now try Image Background and Stabilisation reset and run fresh Stabilisation and Gradation.

What's the life of drums and ITB and Devs?

Is it on all print jobs?? What if job is sent from another computer? Just start happening? What is the PM life of consumables? Have you ran the Gradation 3x??
You can adjust the HUE's and Brightness in the Driver, BUT only after answering other questions.

Will need a fiery then calibration then more complaints...
Fixed a call by adjusting a screen when the guy went out of his office for a bit.
Thanked me for fixing the printer!

Do as per habik.

What app are they printing from? If Adobe PDF, try Advanced, Color Management, "Let Printer Determine colors"

Does your copier print an internal test chart. If so, print that to determine the copier's baseline for color quality.

On mac the difference between RGBs and CMYK is night and day.

For a hand print on tx belt I use a very clean new white rag. Maybe a spray of water on the rag worst case. Just keep rubbing with a dry rag, then run 40 or 50 copies. Seems any cleaner will leave permanent blotches on tx belt. I usex to try alcohol with limited success. Dry rag and many, many copies has worked the best for me.

Windows or Mac environment?
file type (raster, vector) that your client "see wrong", RGB or CMYK, if CMYK what profile it was worked with (swop, ISO, fogra etc)?
i believe there's not much you can do from the copier side (guessing that you have done all the cleaning, graduating adjustments etc), other than installing a fiery :p
People will always ask for more without having the slightest clue about color reproduction...you can't get on details about profiling or how environment parameters such as humidity can affect their prints.
You can't have a basic MFP with the demand of being cheap and accurate...
In my field I have installed used Fieries on one c360 and one c280, after the clients demanded for more accurate and consistent color, I run monthly calibration with ES-1000, I get paid the visit and everyone is happy...

I may sound more like a psychotherapist, that a technician, but I have seen that whining countless times.

The first thing to do is find out exactly which color isn't right on exactly which electronic file, and get a copy of the electronic file.

I've had this conversation numerous times. The customer says: "This is not our color!!" So you say to everybody in the room: "Can I get a business card from everybody?" Then get a few samples of the letterhead and envelopes. Line up all your samples on the table. "So I've got 10 samples, and 7 different colors. Which is your color?" Eventually somebody produces an official electronic file with the official color. Take ColorPic to determine the exact CMYK/RGB color.

Now print the official electronic doc. Take your print and compare it to your Pantone Color Bridge. From that you can compare the RGB to the CMYK sample. Remember: displays are additive color RGB, prints are subtractive color CMYK. And they look very different. And professional press printing with ink has a much larger color gamut, and can produce many more colors than a CMYK printer. It's the bold, bright, neon colors that are furthest outside the printer's color gamut.

Once you know the exact CMYK/RGB color you can produce a Publisher document with the customer's exact color, and print it to prove that the printer is fully capable of producing the color (when the exact color is present in the electronic document).

Unless you've got a fiery and your monitor is properly calibrated you've got no chance of making an RGB monitor look like a CMYK print. =^..^=

Thanks for the calibration information and all the other suggestions...

Where I work ... Field techs are not allowed to touch customers computers fireable offense...

What I want to do is put mkit in, calibrate the machine... To the best of my ability and when customer complains...

Kick it upstairs to mgr...

He will not let our computer guy touch it... It will be billable...

He will tell him... Machine can't do this ...

To which the customer will say it was ok before...

If it were up to me...

I would calibrate to best of my ability...
Jump on customer computer system...
Then compare one image printed from all computers
Check older images... That were good and newer images that were bad
Then explain that at this point... The copier is calibrated... And next step is to put a mkit in... And calibrate again...
We put one in...
Image still bad...
Now its no longer an issue with copier its colors...
Now its color sampling time...
This is an issue for their it person...
Why... The older machine gets the more out of spec the older it gets...

And since we are working with two different color sets... Color matching will have to be done...

But since I can't do that all I can do is put mkit in, calibrate the machine and recommend customer to mgr not if but when they complain...

That's what's ahead..,

I hate these handcuffs...

I realized this after listening to all suggestions...

Thanks again

its a c284e no fiery

HAPPY NEW & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO ALL

I think customer is very unreasonable, he is using entry level machine without Fiery(Fiery- which have capability of better calibration using densitometer OR spectrometer). Even high end production machines will not match screen colours 100% with hard output due to gamut difference in additive and subtractive colors.
Either he do not know ANYTHING about colors OR he is very experience in printing technology and just trying to get maximum at low investment.
You may try following -
1. Try to explain him above difference (this is difficult task, I know)
Secondly on A3 sheet put 5 bars for each color ( CMYK Each 5) & fill with 20% to 100%(5 steps). Ask customer according to him which shade do not match to his design and try to adjust only that segment After calibration( Highlights, Mid tone & Shadows).
You can use to compare the output with standard CMYK color reference charts for different color mixing. Which should match close to 90%
If you adjust as above do not perform Initialise+Stabilisation, in case if you have to, then restore the values back after calibration.
2. Ask customer to change color profiles from application software and show him that colors on screen changes as you use different profiles in application software (Adobe OR Corel etc.) if you put color management OFF colors looks very different on screen BUT if you check the % of colors in the file % are same. So WYSIWYG is actually not applicable in such cases.
Also please note that different versions of Windows gives color variations for the same file printed on same machine with same application software & setting. ( I was very surprised to see that but its true)
3. Now let customer play the ball, ask him to give you color profile which he has made for his own use. If he doesnt have ask him to get the help of professional color specialist who can make profile and also calibrate his monitor. Calibrating of monitor is very a special task, which needs very special equipment & should be performed under very special light source so do not promise him to help. Let him manage that on his own. These professionals charges are very heavy.
4. If he manage to give you profile file you can download that profile using download manager to machine and application software can use that profile
THIS WILL BRING THE COLORS CLOSE TO SCREEN.
Hope this helps

Agreed. Matching the color gamut on the workstations to the MFP is always best. Everything including the lighting of the office plays a role in how that color is perceived to the end user.

its a c284e no fiery

Sounds like the issue may be needing to calibrate the end user to the fact its a lower level machine without a fiery. LOL
