I have new rollers and sep pad in ADF, I can run 50 good pages thru ADF for copy or scan, no problem but customer's document with not perfect pages (not bad) pulls extra pages on scan. I try to point out the document they have is not perfect flat pages (but I think they should go) They are not buying this reason. I can't see why (not perfect pages I think should go no problem) are having a problem. Customer said fix this F%$#ing machine. I'm going to try another ADF, Help

Whats the media type they are trying to scan through? Check and Clean the sensors. If you try another DF and the problem remains the same then the media is not suitbale for the DF. Try a less of a stack in the doc feeder. Try this hope this helps you solve your problem

I'm not real familiar with this particular model, but if there are adjustments on the sep pad pressure
I would run through the range with the customers originals till it worked or I determined it was a
paper problem. Like static.

just a thought

Exactly, one has to play with that. That's my experience with the same problem I had with one of my customers. ADF was almost new with only 20K on it. Playing with the spring solved the problem. Forgot which notch I used however but it might differ anyway depending on the situation.

There is a bulletin on this issue. I don't remember the number, but it tells you to trim the mylar on the sep pad and set the sep roller spring to the lowest notch. (the least pressure). I have done this to all of this style of DF that I have in my territory and I can't remember the last double feeding issue. It doesn't make the rest of the DF any better, but is solves the double feeding problem.

No jams or codes, this is odd. I don't want to blame the customer but I think its the quality of his originals?? I am going to try another top and see if they have the same problem. The customer did say if he scans 15 pages it only shows 10 went???? no error or jams?? Thanks for responding to my problem. Again I can run good paper thru with no problem which I showed the customer.

This is EXACTLY the situation I found. A set of 20 pages going through but only 15 or so are being scanned. It does not happen with clean sheets of fresh new paper but originals laying around for some time and also originals being folded previously show this behavior. Especially during scanning, less with copying because of the lower scan speed.

Playing with the separator roller spring did in my case the trick. Trimming the mylar too is an interesting tip however.

I'm still interested to see that bulletin about it.

At first I play with tension spring too; set it on higher pressure position. It was better but didn't solve the problem in my case.
Separation roller was pretty good.
I replaced separation roller together with torsion spring. After that no double feed.

My conclusion: torsion spring (which is not visible) was broken, and that could happend by pulling the paper in oposite direction by force (paper was not released).
