Hi Guys,

Need some help on something, if anyone out there has some experience..

I have a customer using a Bizhub C3850, on a basic network - Copier & Laptop connected to bog standard router - thats it! - no switches/no server/ no frills network!

Customer would like to be able to send print jobs from outside the network (over the internet, from anywhere basically)

How do I achieve this?

I know there is an i-option to put on this machine for cloud printing, but according to the service manual I can set up IPP, however I have never done so, and would like a bit of guidance if anyone has anything?

Many thanks!

log into the router, use port forwarding to the copiers IP.
use port 9100 or 631 so the customer would set the printer IP as their public IP and then the port.
ie: printer IP=192.168.1.100 but run whatismyip.com from their computer to see their public IP address so lets say their public IP is 71.10.10.25 you would select port forwarding to port 9100 or 631 in the remote print driver to reach the x.x.x.100:9100

not the most secure way but its the simplest.

the other simple way is to enable POP and create an account with their ISP or exchange server and allow email printing on the copier.
they send an email to the machines email address and it prints.
more secure too.

Thanks for your reply, I was thinking this but the c3850 requires I-options to receive/print emails.

dont suppose you have a step by step for setting up IPP? Printer side & driver side

many thanks

If they use Chrome you can set up the printer there and they can print from anywhere. I use it all the time.
