I had a C253 in a library. They would have a HDD error which required the HDD to be reformatted about once every 3 months. I ended up replacing the HDD but in a few months had the same problem. I then replaced the HDD and MFPB, but in a few months had the same problem. Since that was an older machine I wasn't able to get the HDD new so I kept buying used ones and told the customer that they really should be thinking about a new machine. So, customer bought a brand new C258 and within 3 months had a HDD error. We reformatted the HDD but the error came back 3 days later. Replaced the HDD and machine went 3 months again and had another HDD error. Ended up replacing HDD again. I have very infrequent HDD failures anywhere else. Anybody have any idea what might be causing this? THANKS!

Monitor wall (As mentioned above)
Make sure firmware is up to date
What kind of scanning are they doing? Could be excessive read and writes to the drive. Not sure what would be the best, but if they are doing HDD scanning this could be a possibility.

monitor the wall power!

Exactly brand new 8 series should not have this many HDD errors.

Also check the copier is not sharing an extention lead with a high powered device like a heater etc

A typical HDD can cope with constant read/write for years before needs formatting.

improper shut downs - cleaning crew unplugging the machine to plug in vacuum - power issues

we like to use NextGen PCS – AMETEK | ESP | SurgeX (http://espsurgex.com/product/nextgen-pcs/)
or http://espsurgex.com/product/envision (http://espsurgex.com/product/envision/)/

Try a power conditioner. How old is the library?
