I want to replace opc drum . I need to get in service mode and clear drum counter as service manual says.
I select utility/counter, meter count, stop 0,0, stop, 01 and machine asks for CE password to be set.
I insert 0000000 or 12345678 but wrong code number .
I took over service for this machine from others . Before me others provioded service. Also it's a second hand machine.
When i give 12345678 or 900000000 i can get in administrator mode .
Previous service say's that's all he knows.
Any idea how to get in service mode?

Your post wasn't clear, are you putting in "8" zeros? Once you get into service mode you can go into enhanced mode and change password or turn off.

I am trying to get in service mode but it asks for code i tried 8 zeros also 12345678 but machine says wrong code.
If the right code is lost do i have to replace ram?

I just refer when i try to reach administration and asks for code i write 8 zeros or 12345678 (i don't remember which one of these two" ) and now it is accepted.

Not sure if this will work but after "stop 0 0 stop 0 1" try "stop" "0" "clear" and see if you can get into enhanced mode. If it works you can change or turn off the "CE" password.

If nothing works you will have to change NVRAM.

Is there the ability to cancel or change CE password when i can get in Administrator ?
giving 8 zeroes i get in administrator menu. Can i clean CE password there?

No you can't change in Admin mode. You need to get into the enhanced security mode

You can't reset CE password in Admin mode. Enhanced security or no. Did you try 92729272 as earlier suggested?

And 927292729272? ;)
I replaced only opc drum and blade (the previous was scrached by the customer) and the copy is light (it was ok with the replaced drum) . I didn't cleared drum counter because as i said above previous tech didn't give me the CE password!!!! At the moment i can't replace nvram (for some reasons). Is there any way to darken image ?
Also today i saw a post about nvram . Can i reset it? If i reset or replace it do i have to replace developer and what other adjustment i have to do?

Sorry to say the only way to darken copy is reset drum counter. The machine's voltage correction settings are still set for the old drum. See if you can buy the MFP & NVRAM together (both from same machine) on ebay or somewhere. Can't be that much for a 10 yr old machine. Heck I could of bought a whole working 501 for $50 a few years back!

the 501, didnt you have to set the charge voltage to whats printed on the drum flange?
been a while since i saw one.

Hey Syn, you may be right. Been awhile but I seem to recall that. Last one I worked on was a 421 about 3 yrs ago. What I meant was as the drum counters click & drum wears doesn't the machine adjust the voltages to compensate for drum wear? Unless I misunderstood the poster said CQ was fine and only replaced the drum because of a scratch, and since he can't get into tech rep mode the "compensated" voltages would still be for that used drum, and maybe why the copies are light with the new drum. Just a thought throwing out there. Kind of a moot point with not being able to get into serv mode, this machine will never be able to perform well anyway.

Ha-ha how true. This was one of K/M bad machines, not as bad as the EP4300/4301 but still BAD! All OEM's have a flop every now and then, unless of course you are Panasonic then all your machines were flops!

You mean by "to worry about counters" to use then during service to get informations about machines history or that they cause problems.
If it the first i don't mind about counters because i plan to replace this machine in close future but not now.
If by resetting nv ram, CE password cleared then how can i reset it?

resetting counters on some units will put the settings back to NEW CONSUMABLE status.

IF the parts are OLD/USED you will cause quality problems.
