When using the duplex function to print or copy the paper just exits the machine without returning to duplex, after that a misdeed occurs from which ever tray I was printing from. I’ve replaced the duplex unit with no luck. Same issue.

Could you tell us the jam code it shows in the data?

replace the whole exit unit with the gate and solenoid.
bit of a job but after the 3rd one it takes 10-15 minutes.
or... on the left (front) side of the diverter gate there is a rubber pad used to dampen sound. just remove it. sometimes the gate fin gets stuck to it.

I replaced the complete exit unit. Same issue occurring.

Damn. That's a bottle of WTF
if you try to duplex a meter sheet does it still fail?
Even on a factory modded exit unit I've had to add a thick mylar in front of the solenoid pintle to keep the gate slightly engaged so the solenoid always fires correctly.
In your original post you said you replaced the duplex unit. Did you mean exit?

As I said previously, what jam code is being registered in the data?

It could provide a clue.

Synthohol (http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/members/synthohol.html) is correct. I have battled that exact issue multiple times. Typically replace exit unit and/or add the mylar. I have had to add the mylar on new ones too.
