Hi, I have a strange problem with a C227.

This is a new MFP, installed a few days ago. When the customer inserts the card, he detects the A4 size (first tray). If you open and close the tray, MFP recognize A5. The guides are well positioned.

In the settings I wanted to force the A4. I did "change tray settings" but it keep changing to A5. Is there a way to disable automatic recognition and force the A4?

They probably had a paper jam and there is paper stuck behind the tray.

I don't think you can override the automatic tray size on those machines.

The c227 and 227 have known paper detection issues, there are a few bulletins out for it, just a really crappy design as far as the size detection goes.

Look for this in the knowlege area

Paper tray size detection does not recognize 8½ x 11 (Letter size) paper correctly or MFP displays "???". (https://onyxweb.mykonicaminolta.com/kb/search/Display/KBA00029242) Relevance: 87

Found solution for the problem.

Behind the first tray there is a piece that moves. If the customer bangs too hard, it moves for some reason.

The solutions found are two:
1) Tell the customer must not beat, which is difficult to understand in big offices.
2) Put an adhesive tape to lock that sensor.

Is it located on the tray itself ??

Or, at the rear of machine ?

It is a tongue located at the back of the tray.
