What are the consumable life counts? Did you pull the K developer unit and see if it dumped? Lines are usually from black drum, transfer belt or fuser. In this case I would think black drum needs to be replaced

Thank you, I will try with the new drum unit

In the meantime you could probably change the direction of the paper to feed long ways and it will most likely miss the lines on edge.

When I looked at the image, my first thought was the black drum as well. It's hard to tell for certain whether it is a black line where the page should be white, or a blank are where there should be text...if blank/void, then the area is not charging properly. Either way, the drum would be the easiest place to start. And copyman's idea of turning the paper 90 degrees in the tray is good, particularly if you have to wait on the drum to arrive.

you are not a tech are you?

I think he was just asking what "Charge/Grid in toner" means. I'm a tech and I don't know what that means.

If you want to be sure. swap the life chip from black with one of the color drums. if the lines come out the color you swapped with and no black lines then you can get yourself a black drum.

Only way it would make sense to swap drums is if you have old style drums with small screw for chips. New style chips are riveted so people can't buy less expensive black drums and swap the chips for color, drums are identical except chip. I'm not saying the rivet stops some people. I would never do something like that

Just disassemble your black drum and clean the grid + corona.

Keep in mind you can clean the grid, charge, etc but if it is over life it can cause "any" of the developer units to pull developer. And if a color dev unit gets ruined you are looking at $400+ each to replace. Genuine black drums cost less than $100 so why even take the chance!
