Customer called of a particular smell coming from the copier. When I showed up they said to smell behind the operation panel....One sniff and it smelled exactly like dog crap. Smelling the exit area was even worse as it smelled like a burnt dog crap.....Replaced the fuser and the smell went away.
Is Konica using shitty parts again...

Haha. If you are serious only thing I can think of would be a dead mouse in machine. Weird smell went away with new fuser.

Actually not even sure a mouse can get into the newer models? Last time I saw a dead mouse in machine was a C253 in a Philadelphia restaurant.

Customer complaint was lines on pages, dead mouse stuck halfway into trans belt cleaning unit. All I could picture was that poor mouse running on the transfer belt like a treadmill, finally it's little legs just gave out and got fed into the cl unit. Two things I learned from that experience, 1st: all creatures deserve a home, 2nd: don't eat in Philadelphia restaurants:cool:

My first thought was dead mouse....stripped it down and couldn't even find any droppings....
We've had a few mice in our days too...They sure like the warmth
In a roundabout way I asked the customer if someone doesn't wash their hands thoroughly...

After thinking about it maybe the Jap's and Chinese are trying to force people to replace ridiculously priced fusers so they make a lot more money, they figured no one was replacing fusers as recommended and many go 2x's their life. Everything they tried, chips, fuses, codes, etc could not get people to replace fusers. So only sure way to get an American to change fuser as recommended is make the whole office smell like $hit !!!

This is normal when the fusers get old especially if you are not replacing the dust & ozone filters.

Had a few Konica Minolta fusers cause a bad smell. Even with the fuser and filters replaced. Even before the end of life. Lost a few customers because of this.

had this recently, when the rubber starts disintegrating off the rollers and crumbles it can come into contact with the heating lamp - the smell is offensive.
