Dear Members,

My c252 loses L3 network connectivity after a few hours if not in use. The network connectivity is back after i power cycle it.
*DHCP or STATIC configuration, does not matter
*I changed the port from an HP GbE switch, to an old Cisco Fast Ethernet... also no change
*There is no ip conflict (i really mean it, i watched the arp table)
*The fun part is, it is always replying to ARP requests... So L2 connectivity is there, but ICMP echo requests and all TCP ports get ignored

This printer was under an active support contract 3 years back, i took it as it was decommissioned... This problem is present all the time, but my wife is nagging about it lately. What could cause it? May it be a firmware problem? (That was actually my first guess, but the procedure seems to be unnecessary complex for a blind test)
Thanks for any suggestion!

Turn off sleep mode.

Great effort trying to resolve the issue so far.

Sleep mode is a big culprit as per copyman.

There are also network speed settings that can be changes like the max bit rate and simplex and duplex.

Not the biggest expert on networks when it comes to the OSI model so does that mean that the machine is connected on physical and the link layer but not on the network layer?
Leave a laptop connected to it to makes super sure its not a switch problem is the sleep mode does not do the trick?

I probably should RTFM first... as i do not see any sleep mode. The only interface i am using is the built in http server with the Administrator user.
I have now set the interface from auto negotiation to fixed 100 full duplex... But i doubt this will change anything, as Ethernet connectivity is always there. The thing which stops working, is the IP connectivity.

IP layer is over Ethernet... So before you can access an IP on a local network, you have to ask for the corresponding MAC addr. of the device. This part is working... The BizHub always sends an ARP response, however an ICMP Echo request (Ping), or TCP/9100, or TCP/80, ... is not answering at all == connection times out.

BTW here are the SW versions:

KM stopped support for that model years ago. Cant find a manual thru my sources:(.
The c252p was not popular here or at all. As a copier it has the sleep function from the touch panel.
Not sure about the LCD and arrow move...

First set "no sleep" in tech rep mode. Page 110.
Then set no sleep under user settings power save . Page 87.

Will not recommend this machine for home or even office use due to the amount of power it uses set to 240min and no sleep...
Brilliant old school quality but not work the long waiting time for the prints...

Stick around to help us not so network literate techs.

Hi,

So now it is getting really weird. I have disabled all unnecessary services like IPX, FTP server, blah blah which were enabled on the Bizhub... And not only did it loose network connectivity, but i have noticed, that is is actually frozen. Even the front control panel was not responding... This might be the case for some longer time, as i have always power cycled it automatically in the last months without checking.

The day before yesterday, the printer was dead. No response to power cycling, nothing. Dead meat.

So i have looked for a fuse or something... And plugged the power cable out and in after not seeing anything interesting... And the printer tried to power on for a very brief moment and went dark. The point is... The original old grey power cable has some loose contact. So i have changed the power cable... And the printer is online for the 2nd day! So it might be an electrical interference all along. I will report the status after a few days.

I have a working C252 if you end up needing any parts
