Hi you all.
I was asked from the IT specialist of one of my customers , to find a way to disable the possibility to wiew the job log who contains the domain names of the users.
Disabling PSWC turning it off isn't an option. The Customer has about 100 MFP's in multiple offices and cities.
Tried a password for the public login, but in that state the MFP became not fully usable.
Thanks for your ideas
Aldo

Try to modify switch 75 to HEX 08.
That should mask job history for users other than administrator in PSWC.

I can't remember who's copytechnet signature this is but it's so true.

"90% of IT is a solution looking for a problem"

Makes me chuckle every time I see it.

What models does this apply to? We just tried it on a C360 and the job log is still viewable through PSWC, public account.

Do you have the latest firmware on that 360.
Who has a list of all the engine and system switches on these machines?

Yep, D2 is installed and the latest I'm aware of unless it takes a special F/W to make this work.

I should clarify that the C360 let us change the SW75 to 08, but after going back in to view the SW, it was back at 00. Apparently it won't allow that one to be changed.

Yeah, I'd love to have a list of soft switches for each machine like Minolta used to provide us 20-25 years ago. It was in every service manual and if we weren't supposed to change it, it said not used in the field. My guess is that too many techs started changing soft switches they weren't supposed to at some point and the powers that be decided not to provide the list any more.

We also just tried the SW75 to 08 (it actually held the setting) on a C284e with the latest F/W (GHV-M1) and all jobs are still viewable via PSWC public account as well.

When you change some menu items you actually change the switches in the background.
So it could be that there is an admin setting in plain sight that is being missed.

Function version? Would that matter?

On C284e, function version is 7. C360, the function version is 3 but on those, there isn't a way to change it as the F/W update automatically changed the function version.

Found it in the manual...

Under Enhanced security mode under security in the admin settings.

Did you restart the machine?

Yep, shut both machines down after changing soft switch 75 to HEX 08. It seems it just doesn't work unless the SW or HEX assignment aren't correct, maybe?
