I have several windows 10 (one is Win 10 Pro, forgot to check the other...)machines that are getting scan error 2101. The weird thing is that if I go to the address book on the computer that's not scanning and test the connection it tests ok and then so send a scan it works for a while. I tried the host name and set a static IP but it does the same thing. I don't think the problem is on the copier side because one of the customers has a 7550ci and 3552ci and it does the same thing with both, test each one then it works for a while. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

What is the main MFD you are having scanner problems with? Start with it.
Has the customer I.T. just updated all Win10 PC's?
Are you scanning with/to Email,SMB FTP?
Did I.T. change routers or any switch hardware?

First impression sounds like a wrong network domain in the IP address.
In CMD window enter <ipconfig /all> ...
Does the problem PC IP domain octet match the MFD IP domain octet.
.
.
.
DNS server configuration....?
Duplicate IP conflict....?

Had this same issue on a 2551ci a few weeks ago. Verified all the information in the addressbook was correct and hit the test button, it would return OK. Try to do a scan and it would error out. Updated the firmware resolved my issue. I have not figured out yet why the test worked but actual scanning did not. This is on a computer that was upgraded to Win10 several months earlier and had been scanning with no issues. Looking at the Windows update log there was a windows update installed the previous day that I assume started causing the problem. Make sure the FW is up to date.

The 7550ci won't scan to a Windows 10 SMB folder unless you get the special local firmware from your ASM. It doesn't support SMB V2.

Thanks for the reply. It is smb scanning. I'll give the firmware a try. I just don't understand why it doesn't work until it's tested. It tests ok then it works for a hours or sometime days. I do a remote session with the customer, click test without changing any other settings and it's ok for a while. I'll defiantly try the firmware in the morning

It could be a DNS issue are you using hostnames or static IP address
Recheck the DNS settings in machine and with there IT
If using hostname try static on the PC that's an issue

well here's an update.... the firmware didn't fix it but we did determine it's only the mfp connected wirelessly. Connect a wire and it works great. Printing has never been a problem,\. To be continued....

I believe you have to select your network interface that will be used for scanning in the network settings menu if you plan on using the wifi connection. I know you do when using the IB-51 on those machines that do not have built in wireless.
