Hi,

I've got a brand new C458 installed but was unable to setup a successful Scan to SMB.
I've set it up on the network with a static IP and printing goes out normal, everything I send it prints ok.
I can also access the printer typing the IP on the browser.
Pinging the PC on the printer is successful.
But every time I try to scan to the network folder it fails. The error I get is "Server connection error".
The PC has Win10 and I already activated SMB1 and SMB2, still get the error.
Scan to flash drive works ok.
There are 3 other machines (C220, C360 and 601) working perfectly with the same Scan to SMB configuration as I made to this new one, same PC, same folder. So I rolled out any PC or network issue.

Am I missing something?

What is the error you get in the job log?
Also if switched on it can give you error code.

Should be a number...like 107
If those old beasts scan to SMB it must be SMB1.
Not a good idea!
Newer machine may have enabled only SMB2/SMB3 under SMB settings. Check this.

are you scanning to IP address or host name?
if host name you need a local DNS to resolve.
try by IP instead and add the user to the share, dont rely on "everyone" to make it work.
also, what OS? windows home edition any flavor sucks, needs to be pro or better.
verify the copiers IP and the SMB folders PC are on the same subnet.
you can ping the server from admin mode, network, expert adjustment or detail, i forget what its labeled.
if ping fails its a network issue.

Are you using host name or IP?
Did you change any SMB settings on the machine?

Is you PC on a static IP?
If so why not use FTP scanning?

I did try scanning using the IP instead of the host name, still get the error.
Yes, I can ping the computer from the printer using both the host name and the IP address, not able to scan using both.
System is Windows 10 Pro.
Subnet is right, double checked.

This issue is driving me crazy. :(

Tried every combination of SMB both on the machine and on the PC, nothing worked.
Tried IP address and host name, same issue.

PC has static IP.
Never used the Scan to FTP, I'll try that tomorrow.

SMB1 is KNOWN to be problems.. deactivate it.

does your machine support SMB2? does it need special firmware? is it installed?

there are plenty of threads here that talk about SMBx scanning. you should also have a numeric error code...

Check your antivirus, that can be a big toss around as well. Make sure this is on in the pic below, some pc need a restart after it is enabled. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190711/86dcfa163705cf896f28f69ed8e4796a.jpg

Turning SMB 1 back on may subject you serious liability when your customer gets their data stolen and wants you to pay for damages. If you do this kind of crap make sure you have plenty of cash resources to cover the lawsuit you opened yourself up to.

The error code when scan fails is: 16711683
This is: Library internal error (Parameter error)
Any other anomaly with this machine? What was done/changed prior the problem?

Nothing that I know of. It actually is an Olivetti d-Color MF454.
It has only 30 clicks, brand new.

Have you tried scanning to your own laptop folder and not the customers computer?

Am I missing something? What security/ antivirus??? Have you made an exception for the scan folder??? Is your network location set to public or private/ business???[emoji848]

To do a scan to folder on Windows 10 the correct thing to do is to update the firmware to enable SMB v2. Without the firmware you are using SMB v1 and that is disabled by default now in the operating system. Also scan to FTP is insecure. Don't do it if port 21 is not firewalled.

Any chance the network is set to "public"?

Was this copier ever installed on another network. We usually set the copier to DHCP and turn off/on, and pull network settings from customer network. Then put copier IP back
in to machine.

I was still using SMB for a while but then I kept getting beat up over it so I started using FTP if its almost easier and faster once you understand it.
