Konica Minolta says it is necessary to install Local Interface Kit EK-608 before installing IC Card Authentication Device AU-201S.

What if i do not install EK-608 OR do not purchase it and purchase only AU-201S and install it using Only external USB port which is normally used for external memory PRINT/SCAN functions.

They say, EK-608 provide extra usb port for AU-201S and for internal connecgtion. EK-608 is also used for voice guidance. I do not need voice guidance and i also do not need extra USB port.

My question is will AU-201s work on external USB port? OR EK-608 will be required for sure?

Many Thanks

If customers accept to not use front USB sure, we installed Ysoft card readers on machines with only 1 USB port like C227,4050 etc.
No problem they work, but there is one major disadvantage, you should disconnect card reader if want to update FW with USB Flash.
But good question I'm intested in what others may suggest/do.

I've used the port on the mfp board, I don't install the ek kit. It's just a waste of money imho

This has been my experience on C3351's, C3350's and 4050's. It's inconvenient to load the loadable device drivers and firmware, but can be done. =^..^=

At least in the US, there is no AU-201S..If you mean the AU-201H, then there is no support for this reader past the C368 series. Please be specific as to the machine and reader you are asking about. E
