We have 9 Konica Minolta C458 machines in an account where the users want account codes on the machine for copying, but don't care about codes for printing. We have print without authentication turned on, but the copier is still rejecting print jobs sent without account track codes. I'm doing a similar test here in the office on a C454e and I'm getting the same results. The manual says this setting applies to both authentication and account track, so I don't know why I can't print. Job log here in the office says "Group Authentication Error". I've read other posts that suggest firmware, driver and function version all need to be up to date. I'm pretty sure all of this is current and set correctly. What else can I try to overcome what would seem like such an easy problem to solve???

try adding the local IP range to the ip filter.
it sounds like you are using account track not authentication.
if thats the case, create a "general" code and lock it in the driver defaults?

There is another setting on machine to print without id code

I appreciate all of the suggestions, but I have tried all of them already without any luck. Can someone possibly try this in their office and see if they get the same results. I have account track on, password only and print without authentication on (color and black). Send a print job without any code - what happens? Lights will probably blink and then nothing. I would really appreciate someone else trying this to see if I am just missing something simple.

From the manual: Select whether to permit printing of a job without authentication information when User Authentication/Account Track is enabled on the machine.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe this only applies to user authentication or user authentication being used with account track. Maybe this setting just doesn't work with account track???

i used to have to add an IP to IP filters in network settings for account track so an AS400 database can print without a code.
you can even specify a whole range.

it was weird how it worked, i had to add the IP of the AS400 then disable it again but the IP stayed and it worked perfect

I haven't tried using IP Filters, but I will definitely give it a try. I plan on calling Konica Minolta on Monday to see if they have a definitive answer on whether or not printing without an account track code will work with account track turned on. Unless someone else can make it work, I'm starting to think this setting only applies to user authentication, not account track.

Make sure that your machines FW version matches printer driver version. At what FW machines are and wich driver they are using?

Did you check driver to be sure you have the right model selected I believe it defaults to 358 on install
does it make a difference ? on Konica it does

Try this. In the Configure Tab of the printer driver, turn off "auto" in the Obtain Settings and then set account track to "off" under device option.

Thank you very much B0265. Your suggestion worked! I turned off "Auto" in Obtain Settings and was then able to set Account Track to "Disable". The machine then accepted the job even though a code was not sent with the print job. I guess what triggers the "Group Authentication Error" is sending the print job without a code with Account Track set to on. Thanks again for everyone's help on this.

I don't want to minimize B0265 good advice, though initially those settings were in link bsm2 posted.
Congrats and thanks for sharing resolution.
