Has anyone tried replacing a colour dev with a black dev (swapping chips of course) and running machine ?
Does the dev eventually turn into desired C, M or Y?
Being told the above by numerous techs but wanted to confirm.
The price for colour dev currently is around 400£
Thanks

is easier and cheaper buying non-original color developer ,clealing unit and put the new developer in.

Not sure if this is something I should post publically but yes you can use a black developer unit in place of color with chip change. Run 60 11x17 halftones of color you want black to become, after around 40 pages you will see the black turn to the color you are replacing. After 60 pages it will be converted to new color. I've done this several times and it works fine!
Now that I've saved you over $500+ (price of color unit) and anyone else who uses this PLEASE make a small contribution to this site. I will make note of your name and will look next time you ask for something if you have contributed to this site. It is not mandatory to make donation but a lot of the techs here will answer a lot faster if they see that you are a contributer.
