Hello Everyone,

i have a Bizhub 4000P Printer and have 3 questions:

1. My printer is from 2014 and has the first firmware on it (LW32.PR2.P331 / FDN.PIR.E412).
I want to upgrade to a new version. Can someone help me out with an up-to-date firmware?

2. I tried to upgrade the printer memory and inserted a 1GB DDR3 RAM DIMM into the memory expansion slot on the controller board.
When i turn on the printer it gives me a "959.20 Service System Board" error. Without the memory installed everything is working fine.
But with installed memory the Printer won`t start. Why is that? Do i have to get some kind of proprietary Konica Minolta memory or do i have to get a license for the memory upgrade?

3. The 4000P should support Apple AirPrint. When i check my license file in the web interface it states "Printer.AirPrint 1" but none of my Apple devices can find the 4000P.
There is no option in the web interface or the printer settings to enable it. Other Printers are working just fine. Do i just need a newer firmware? Or why is this not working?

It would be great if someone could help me out here :)

Thank you very much! :o

According to Konica Minolta you must have firmware version LW41.PR*.P454 or newer for AirPrint to work.

Asking for firmware here can be tricky.

its simple, if you become a contributor here, folks are very helpful when it comes to firmware manuals or movie data.

Thanks for sending me the files.
I just read the dokuments and apparently this new firmware has restrictions regarding the firmware version that is currently installed.

I have LW32.PR2.P331 / FDN.PIR.E412 installed right now. As it seems for installing LW70 i need LW62 and for upgrading to LW71 i need at least LW41.

So my upgrade routine should look like this?
LW32 --> LW41 --> LW62 --> LW70 --> LW71 ?

Therefore i would need LW41 and LW62 in addition.

Something is not working on my end...

I tried upgrading from LW32 to LW41. The data transfer seems to work, but after the transfer is complete, and the coding begins i get a bluescreen on the printer with Programming Error P200.
I downloaded the firmware again, i tried to update with the Webinterface over Ethernet and The USBFlash Tool directly connected to a PC. But every Time the same error.
CRC Check for bot Files are okay.

Do i need to install a version between LW32 and LW41 first?
Should i try a higher Version eg. Update from LW32 directly to LW62?

Or what goes wrong here?

Updating is always a mystery in these printers. I advise you to use the RAM provided by KM, so you have no doubt about hardware compatibility.

I read the firmware list:
LW41.PR2 (PRL) .P454-0 / FDN.PIR.E511 >>> You have no option
LW41.PR2.P454dl-0C >> If you have UK-P03
LW41.PR2.P454-0C >> If you have UK-P02

From what I read, before installing LW70, install LW41.XX.P4xx then install the Controller Firmware [LW50.XX.P5xx].
Finally install for LW70.

My Printer is on Firmware LW32.PR2.P331 / FDN.PIR.E412 at the moment.

I tried to upgrade to: LW41.PR2.P454-0 / FDN.RIP.E511-0

Edit: The Printer has no options installed.

have you somehow managed to revive her?

The Printer is working just fine. It just won`t upgrade to the LW41 firmware.

What firmware don't you have?

mkonkelz

What do you mean by that?

Firmware installed at the moment: LW32.PR2.P331 / FDN.PIR.E412

I tried to upgrade to: LW41.PR2.P454 / FDN.PIR.E511

@Synthohol has provided me:
bizhub4700P_4000P_ContFW(UK-P02)_LW41PR2P454-0_EngiFW_FDNRIPE511-0.zip
with Firmware File: LW41_PR_P454dle_pir24gr_fullfmbc.fls

I believe that firmware is not good if you do not have optional UK-P02
Try what I sent you

I tried once to update FW on these and failed miserably :D
Don't remember exact error and didn't have time to play with printer anymore.
I absolutely hate the way KM or who one else made them do the FW updates.
It all depends on this and that and back and forth... then chances you have bricked the machine are more than half.

Thank you. The Update worked flawlessly :o So i assume the other Versions @Synthohol gave me are also for a Printer with Options.

Do you also have the other Versions? LW62, LW70, LW71?
That would be great :)

I have never seen different firmware updates for different options like this.
What a weird thing to provide updates from KM...

If it helps, the latest plain jane firmware is bizhub4700P contFW LW412PRP454-0 Eng FW FDNRIPES511-0. AUG/2019

Yeah I just gave you the newest ones on top of the list from KM.
I did t know what options you had so I just used the newest.
Same for the versions you asked for.

Next time I'll ask more specifically what the machine has.

Sorry for any mixup but it sounds like it's all sorted?

No worries :) Thank you very much for providing me the firmware files.
I didn`t knew that there were differences regarding the installed options.

As of now FW41 is running and working well.
But i would like to update to the newest firmware.
Is there a newer firmware for my printer (4000P - no options)? Like LW62, LW70, LW72 or are these just for Printer Options?

Plain Jane--basic options, no PKXX or other option that requires special f/w. E

Reading the firmware comments, you will now have to update to LW50 first and then you can proceed with the installation of LW70. The other updates should not be necessary.

Okay, thank you :)

LW70 is the newest?

Edit: And do i need another Firmware Version for the EM-P02 1 GB DIMM Option?

Bix

Yes the LW70 is the last one.
I don't seem to see firmware for that, so I don't think you need to upgrade again

Okay, thank you very much for your help :)

Firmware is working ✔
AirPrint is working ✔

Only my Memory / RAM "Problem" still exists.
It would be good to know, if i need original KM RAM for a Memory Upgrade, or can i use normal DDR3 SO-DIMM RAM Modules.
Do i need a special Firmware for the RAM Option or a KM License?

Theoretically it is plug and play. You insert the RAM and no update is necessary. Can I try to understand the reason for the increase in RAM?

I have some 1GB RAM Modules lying around that i don`t need anymore and it came in mind to upgrade the Printer Memory with one of them, so it has a use again.
And with Memory it`s Better to have, and not need, than to need, and not have. :D

So i`d just like to upgrade it. It`s not necessary. :)
If you guys are telling me i shouldn`t do it, i won`t :D

The basic model comes with 256 MB..Expandable up to 1.28 GB with either the 512 mb, or 1gb chips (EM P01, EM P02) Not sure if there is 1 extra slot for the expanded memory, but it is DDR3, and is states "provides extra memory for printing functions" so more would be better. E

Hi, I don't know if this will be relevant to the topic, but I wanted to share something great that I just found out. We bought second hand Bizhub 4700p to enter our clients fleet, but some of them were very old from 2013 and an LW20 firmware. When we tried to update it gave P115 error.
The solution turned out to be very simple. When you open the momory door, there is a small board called "Forms and Bar Code Card"(attached image). We just removed this board and the printer was unlocked. We were able to update to the newest firmware directly.
