Hi guys, I have a problem on a C458, on tray 1 after some printing the machine jams with code 9901 and an error related to the paper size not recognized. .
The machine has 100,000 copies.
If i use tray not have problem.
I have already tried to replace the paper pick-up rollers,clutch and torque the problem persists.
Do you have any suggestions?

why the EXTRA large font?

doesn't make it more important

are the size n type of media set properly in File and copier?

what paper are you trying to print on?

age on service parts?

coated or plain?

you don't give us much to work with

Hi, in what sense is the paper size not recognized?
When you try to go to the copy window, what appears to you about Tray 1? is the correct size or have the tray settings been changed?


If it appears "???" make sure there is no jammed paper in the back of the tray. If there is not even paper, make sure that the plastic pieces in the back of the tray that identified the paper size have not broken.

Try changing SW145 set HEX to 02 this will display a size mismatch but not a jam.

9901 - just thinking of previous models especially out the bottom trays the conveyancing rollers at the side would slip and you'd get 9901. Some engineers used to add shims to the hooks to apply more pressure. If it doesn't do it from tray 1 the machine is probably just struggling with the paper well in terms of moving it up the vertical feed before the registration or could be as daft as the spring has fell off the registration sensor.

I had one C458 with same problem, i increased the tension of spring of the PS1 sensor that you have changed.
