The i-series machines just came out with a new mandatory firmware update (G00-7B). On my first attempt to do it, the machine came up with a CE301 code after rebooting. Rolled the firmware back and it's fine. Any ideas?

Did you read the reade file for that firmware?
Have you changed bit sw 25 to hex 10?
Just asking, where does it say it's mandatory?
There is a bulletin on this.
That stupid marketplace screws it all up.
E301 occurs when updating firmware to function level 2.0.
Solution
CAUSE: MarketPlace anomaly
SOLUTION: If the E301 occurs after updating firmware to (G00-75/G00-79/G00-7B) perform the following steps
1. Install firmware G00-45. The latest version firmware is available for download via One Stop Product Support.
2. At next boot up Enter Admin mode/Network settings/IWS/turn MarketPlace OFF
3. Install latest base G00-7B or G00-2B depending on the MFP
4. At next boot up machine should be tested
5. Turn MarketPlace back ON through Admin mode/Network settings/IWS/turn MarketPlace ON
6. Install the correct Movie and Voice data for Function version 2.0
No Part replacement is needed to correct this issue.
Note: This issue has been escalated to Japan, at this point use the workaround to resolve the issue. This solution will be updated when a final resolution is obtained.

Yeah, I did that before I even tried it.
And for KM employees, they're saying to do it on a next call basis, and tracking it by a modification part #.
