Hi,

My faithful old C451 is now giving me issues as the control panel touch control is not working.

I have carefully taken it apart to clean the area under the bezel and replaced it = all still works but still no touch panel response.

I have removed, cleaned and reseated the RAM modules -= same problem persists.

Does this mean I need to replace the control panel unit?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Barney

have you tried cleaning under the bezel of the CTL PNL with a business card or such?

Yes, have done that at the beginning and then took it apart to make sure it was "super clean", but still no response. I have also checked and move the RAM around, but no jy.

Just wondering if it needs replacing?

I have replaced several touch screens that have failed on these models. Still have maybe 20 of the C451 & C253's (same control panel) that I still service and many of them had the touch sceen go bad.

There is an aftermarket touch glass available or you can go on ebay and by the complete control panel for around $50

Thank you so much for your reply.

I am not an engineer so the task of TOTALLY dismantling the unit is formidle for me. Also the stages to dismantle this unit aren't in the field manual sadly for me.

I have actually purchased a unit from the USA (I live in the UK) - the postage and import duty far outweighing the orginal price . . . but as they are like hen's teeth I am thankful to have got one. Hopefully it will arrive sare and undamaged.

Again thank you so much for your advice.

Kind regards
Barney
