Minor correction, to turn the feature off it's actually located under System 2, not Machine.

The setting under Machine is to manually check for stains on the front or rear slit glass.
The setting under System 2 is to disable the check from occurring entirely (from opening/closing ADF cover, coming out of sleep mode, etc.)

To disable the checking entirely: [Service Mode] -> [System 2] -> [ADF Scan Glass Contamin. Set.] -> [Not Set] for front and back side.

And another note, on newer models (and older models with newer firmware version) they changed the name of this feature:

ADF Scan Glass Contamination --> Split Line Prior Detection
ADF Scan Glass Contamin. Set. --> Split Line Detection Setting

KMFLT3CH, You're right thanks for that clarification much appreciated.

Quite often this issue can result from the timing of the cleaning brush being incorrect.

IF its parking at any other position than where its fully white it will cause this error. The little belts also end up very loose allowing this problem to come back too. Retiming the brush is dead simple.
