Hi
I have a bizhub 282, I want to set up sending scans via email.

In the smtp configuration, I only have a field for the smtp server address and email address,
no field for smtp password and authentication. In the manual for this device,
I have read that in order for the password and authentication field to appear, I have to
set bit 2 and 6 for mode 380 to 1.
I set Mode 380, bit 00000010 (bit 2) and I get the information: The selected mode cannot be changed.

software?
am I doing something wrong?
can i update the software myself?

typical setting is ..
SMTP Authentication

Before starting, make sure NC-4 and SU-2 or SU-3 are installed. ROM version must be current.
1. Login Admin mode on MFP panel.
2. Select Admin2.
3. Open "SoftSW setting" and set "SoftSW 380, Bit6=1 and Bit2=1".
4. Save Settings.
5. Open "Network Set" and "SMTP Setting".
6. Set SMTP Server Address (TCP/IP address of Mail Server).
7. Set "E-mail Address"
8. Set "SMTP AUTH User Name"
9. Set "SMTP AUTH Password"
10. Save Settings.
Notes:
a. If you get error code EA21C6, it means Authentication method error. If you get error code E72217, it means User ID or Password is incorrect.
With SU-3:

If you want to share POP3 User name and password as SMTP Auth User name and Password, set "SoftSW 380, Bit6=1 and Bit2=0".
Set the POP3 user name and password on "Network Set" and "POP3 Setting".

This method will use CRAM-MD5, Login or Plain authentication.
CAUTION : If you set SoftSW 380, Bit6=1, URL report function with Scan to Server (FTP), HDD will not work.

***You wont be able to use authenticated office365 or gmail since this device doesn't support SSL/TSL and AES256 encryption.
You can use aspmx.l.google.com (74.125.130.27) without authentication but can only send to gmail emails.

Hope this helps..
