I hear the C659 - 958 engine is at the end of the road and not being updated due to poor sales.

The C750i and 750i are the replacements with 95ppm being discontinued completely.

I have a fleet of this type engine that regularly get absolutely hammered and I dont think these lighter duty replacements are going to be up to the task.. Time will tell.

In Europe they have stopped selling the entire 8e series and now also the bizhub 4052.
They will be replaced with the new black and white iSeries.
The bizhub 4052 (lexmark) was a nice printer and also cheap. I hope the 4050i costs the same.

This is bad news! We've got 6 of these in a legal firm that were placed 8 months ago, with 900K prints and 2M scans. No, not total. 900K prints/2M scans on each device! I had some reservations about the equipment holding up, but no major issues.

so far havent really heard any bad news about the brother black and white printers. i do know some early serial number devices have backgrounding issues because of flat spotting of the soft dev roller during shipping. apparently this clears up by itself.

have not seen the 4050i yet we still have some stock of the 4052 left.

firmware updating the brothers is ridiculously easy too.

also on a side note, has anyone seen how you change rollers on the new dual large capacity drawer base? pc-417 from memory where optional and part of the engine standard on the 750i series.

it’s gonna force a lot of people to read the service manual :cool:

It will be fun to lose the screws in the microcracks

Its a pity, Found the 958 to be a beast. Melts its sensor holders but other than that not a bad thing to say.
Paper dust is its only real enemy.
